LOL (part 7) - Snow White Trailer Trash Talk

One of my cherished memories of Disney's Snow White (1937) is when my dad took me to see it in the drive-in movie theater. I remember how much Dad laughed at Dopey.  He loved Dopey.

Since 1937, many retellings and remakes and reimagining of Snow White followed this classic with a built-in fan base. Yet, the latest in 2025 seems to be as cursed as the poison apple with PR nightmares and bad press.

Then the trailers came out...with the reactions.

Below is a sample of the "trailer trash" reviews, with biting humor.

Three previous review videos (part 4 is shown above):

Part 1:  https://youtu.be/bgPDxRkci_A?si=sBQrTEqRm5A_4oqP
Part 2:  https://youtu.be/4HBd37NERrw?si=12Wq3nB0YxHMzEMj
Part 3:  https://youtu.be/8N38hW2eBq4?si=LGcdx1smcc0wgBtz

In all fairness, I haven't see this version of Snow White...yet. But this 3-minute recap of the 2 hour movie doesn't seem so bad.

Who knows? Maybe Snow White 2025 could become a cult classic.

Or if the reviews are right, the devil really is in the details.

LOL (part 5) - Breaking Bad meets Star Trek and Pies

Pi(e) Day is March 14

An obvious mathematical pun - 3.14.

A few years ago, Breaking Bad (2008 - 2013) was a hit as a crime drama thriller.

Its premise: "A chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine with a former student in order to secure his family's future."

But there was some comedy relief, such as Season 5, episode 9,  as shown in this scene between the banter of characters Badger and Skinny Pete.

While one of main characters, Jesse, is having a breakdown, Badger pitches his ideas for a Star Trek script over pizza.

There you have it.

Breaking Bad meets Star Trek and Pies!

And hopefully it brings a laugh -- LOL -- for Pi(e) Day!

LOL (part 3) - Year in the Life of a Teacher

Rockwell/everystockphoto.com

For most of the country, school is now in session after the summer vacation.

And for our intrepid teachers, educators, professors, instructors, aids, tutors, so it begins...

Here's to you, my teacher friends. You make a big difference in the lives of children, students of all ages, the community, the next generation.

All year round.

And as you reach the finish line this school year, may you say...

I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith
II Timothy 4:7 (KJV)

You are a saint! May that put a smile on your face.

Cheers!

LOL (part 2) - International Talk Like William Shatner Day

everystockphoto.com/Where's Captain Kirk?
LOL - Laughing Out Loud - is a look at the lighter side of life.  And in a few days, we can find an excuse to do just that.

Maurice LaMarche has declared March 22nd  as -

*International Talk like William Shatner Day *

[reference:  William Shatner: Talk like him on his 80th birthday - CBS News (2011) ]

And on that day, William Shatner, perhaps best know as Captain Kirk on Star Trek, will celebrate his 82nd birthday.

In the video clip below, Mr. LaMarche explains the inspiration behind this special day -

Star Trek has been an inspiration for 50 years.  Therefore, the actor who played this intrepid star ship captain - Captain Kirk - deserves to have his day!

And on this day, I would venture Mr. Spock would wish us all to -

  Live Long and Prosper!

LOL (part 1) - Olympic dreaming on such a winter's day

Everystockphoto.com/Chariots of fire reenactment!

As the 2014 Winter Olympics will begin (February 6 -23, 2014), so I will begin another thread:

LOL - Laughing Out Loud.  (Some humor here.)

One of most famous Olympic films about the Summer Olympics (in 1924)  - Chariots of Fire (1981) - as reenacted in the picture above.

And here is the opening scene from this Oscar winning movie:

Yeah!  Going for the gold at the Olympics!  These are the things that dreams are made of!

Two years ago, London was venue for the 2012 Summer Olympics.  And as a tribute to the athletes - their dreams of going for the gold - the opening ceremonies began with the music from Chariots of Fire - injected with the humor of Rowan Atkinson.

Never give up on your dreams!  And go for it!
